We believe it is the right of all parents to choose the method of education that best meets the needs of their children, without being burdened by cumbersome restrictions and interference from outside entities. Deer Chase Academy does not provide or mandate any set curriculum or teaching style, but rather supports the idea that the individual parents are best able to decide what works for their families. Deer Chase Academy is a non-public school registered with the state of Florida's Department of Education (#5277). DCA is not accredited through any organization and does not provide transcripts or diplomas. It is up to the parents to keep these types of records themselves, if desired. Please see Homeschool Helps for more information regarding record keeping and transcripts.
Students enrolled in Deer Chase Academy are legally considered private school students and are no longer subject to the homeschool education statutes, but rather to the requirements of the academy itself. If you are currently a homeschooler registered with your local county, you must submit a letter to your district superintendent terminating your homeschool program as soon as you are registered with DCA. As a DCA family, you will be given identification cards (for both parent-teacher and students) that you may use for verification of status if ever needed.
Enrollment is open year-round, and our fees are as low as $8. If you're ready to learn more, please continue now to Getting Started.
* The terms "617 school", "600 school" and "umbrella school" refer to non-public schools operating in the state of Florida and are considered legally valid alternatives for parents choosing to school at home without registering with their local county/districts' homeschool programs.
